CLOUD: Control and Security – What’s the difference?
article written by bizdirect
Most companies see Cloud as a way to be more agile and cost-efficient. While true, this thinking is built on a shaky foundation.

With the bewildering and contradictory Cloud information on the Internet, it can be hard understand exactly what this means or entails. Leak cloud cases in companies such as “Target” and “Apple” were covered by all sources of media and companies got frightened. However, most attacks concerned to the cloud are due to misconfigurations on the administrator’s side.

We often fear what we don’t know. So, our mission is to demystify and advise by starting to distinguish two concepts: control and security.

Fundamentally, maintaining security is about staying multiple steps ahead of the hackers.

When a virus or attack occurs, an in-house data center gives the IT team control over data and physical access to better protect them from viruses. However, it does not mean is more secure. Cloud hosting companies can protect customers and alert them immediately about any disturbance.

Secure servers in a variety of locations safeguard data better than a single location. Viruses can rapidly deploy a fully-tested virus response to all customers, ensuring virus signatures are up-to-date and security patches have been applied, while IT staff can focus on more profit-driven activities.

Security means having the right amount of planning in addition to good technology. A public cloud provider protects using  state-of-the-art security technology, plus the benefit of detecting emerging threats quickly. An additional value is its ability to address issues before they spread.

When companies decide to use a global cloud provider, they inherit global compliance certifications and standards already in place. Global public cloud providers invest in significant resources that exceed what individual organization can realistically afford, deploy, and manage.

Cloud will make your IT team less busy connecting systems and applications, faster data, set up rights and restrictions management and autonomy to your workforce in their access to corporate network and new tools. With all of this, you will be able to uncover more value from the same resources.

In February, we’ll provide more information about the benefits of the Cloud. Questions?
